It took just one visit followed by lots of research for us to decide on Placencia, Belize as our retirement home. We visited many 55+ communities in the US but felt we just weren’t there yet (we don’t act our age:) we wanted more adventure and a cost of living that would allow us to travel. There are also many festivals in surrounding towns like The Mango Festival in Hopkins and the Chocolate Festival in Punta Gorda.
